Web Browser Automation

Keyboard Maestro can control Safari (or Safari-like browsers like Safari Technology Preview) or Google Chrome (or Chrome-like browsers like Chrome Canary) using Browser Window Actions or Browser Form Actions.

In order to control the browser, Keyboard Maestro needs Automation permission for the browser, and the browser needs to be configured to Allow JavaScript From Apple Events.

Automation

Automation control is configured in the System Preferences, Security & Privacy, Automation settings. The browser should be listed with Keyboard Maestro Engine able to control it (checked).

The system should ask to allow Automation control the first time you execute an action to control the browser. At that point, it should also add Keyboard Maestro Engine.app to the preference settings, so you can enable it late.

Allow JavaScript From Apple Events

Safari

In Safari, you must first enable the Develop menu by choosing Preferences from the Safari menu, changing to the Advanced panel, and enabling “Show Develop menu in menu bar”, and then choosing Allow JavaScript from Apple Events from the Develop. You can then turn off the Develop menu if desired.

Google Chrome

In Chrome, you must choose Allow JavaScript from Apple Events from the Developer sub-menu in the View menu.
